HVLP Viscosity Cup for All HVLPs
Part # SG243
For ALL HVLP Series Spray Stations Guns
The viscosity cup is used to indicate if a product is thin or thick. Materials should be tested before spraying to see if thinning is required. The correct viscosity is important to ensure the paint atomizes correctly and sprays evenly.

What Needle Do I Need?
Generally, it is important that you match your needle tip size to the paint type being used, the thickness of the paint and the desired quality of finish. A correct match will ensure a more satisfying result, a better painting experience, a quality job and savings in paint and time.

For example, for a finish using a polyurethane or varnish with thinner viscosities, a finer needle tip size would be more suitable since it would atomize the paint to a much finer mist and apply a lighter coat.

Selecting the Needle Kit
The Earlex Spray Station 5000 comes standard with a 2.0 mm (0.08 in.) diameter needle and fluid tip. The standard tip is the most versatile and can be used with a wide range of paints. Optional needle sizes available range from 1.0 to 2.5 mm (0.04 in. to 0.10 in.). These are described below.

In general, larger diameter needles and fluid tips are ideal for higher viscosity materials since they allow thicker materials to be sprayed where finish is not of paramount importance. Smaller diameter needles, in contrast, are more suitable for lower viscosity materials ensuring a higher quality finish.

Check your instruction manual (can be downloaded from this web site) for information on selecting the correct spray pattern, paint volume, spraying technique and maintenance tips.

The HVLP Spray Station 500 Series is recommended for use with products having a viscosity of up to 45 seconds; Spray Station 3000 and 5000 Series with a viscosity of up to 60 seconds. Making the paint too thin may lead to extra coats which may not be necessary for the finish you require. However, if you require a high quality finish, then more lighter coats will be beneficial.
